Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger comes to cinemas on September 11 By Jazz Monroe August 18, 2026 A new Oasis documentary on the band’s 2025 reunion is set for release next month. Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger presents the notoriously antagonistic Gallagher brothers in preparation for a reunion tour that might once and for all “change the narrative of the band” (and perhaps make a bit of money on the side). The doc shows Liam and Noel powering through the pain, the glory, and some sort of liturgical subplot of the reunion. The Hulu Original film, made in partnership with Disney+, arrives in U.S. cinemas on September 11, ahead of a streaming release later in the year. Steven Knight, the man behind Peaky Blinders, is credited with “creating” the movie, with Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace directing. In the trailer, concert footage intertwines with voice-overs reckoning with, and rewriting in real time, the Oasis legacy. “The way it finished—unacceptable,” Liam says. “It just don’t sit right with me, man.” The “way it finished,” as noted in Pitchfork’s review of the comeback show in Cardiff, was in a dressing room at the 2009 Rock en Seine festival, where Liam swung a guitar at Noel’s face after angrily throwing a plum at the wall.

Ahead of “In the Night,” Beck introduced the album back in April with the title track and news of a tour. Ride Lonesome is due September 18 via Capitol. The Mikai Karl-directed video starts with Lavant ruefully smoking a cigarette—I would happily have watched this for five minutes—before wandering around an apparently French, tumbledown apartment, gazing across a rustic skyline, and slowly retreating into himself. For the Hyperspace follow-up, Beck reunited with the band that made Mutations, Sea Change, and Morning Phase: Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., and Jason Falkner. They worked at his favorite studio, Room B at Hollywood’s United Studios, he said in a press release. And, he added, sometime collaborator Nigel Godrich mixed the album. “It had been a decade since we went in the studio and recorded Morning Phase. This time It felt like the playing and the chemistry had evolved and deepened—a sound that’s come together over the decades of working together. While we were revisiting a musical and physical place, it also felt like we were finding new sounds and emotional textures along the way," Beck added.

The wildly successful biopic brought in $911.9 million worldwide, outperforming Bohemian Rhapsody at the box office. By Charisma Madarang Less than two months after it premiered, Michael has become the highest-grossing biopic of a musician of all time. Deadline reports that the Antoine Fuqua-directed Michael Jackson flick, which stars the late star’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the titular role, has brought in $911.9 million worldwide, surpassing 2018’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Both films, notably, were produced by the same man, Graham King. Per Deadline, Michael has also set a number of other records, including securing the largest global opening weekend sales ever for a music biopic. It’s the second-highest grossing film of 2026 thus far, following The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It's also the second-highest grossing biopic ever, behind Christopher Nolan’s 2025 film Oppenheimer.

The Hackney Diamonds follow-up drops July 10 By Jazz Monroe and Alex Suskind May 5, 2026 The Rolling Stones have lifted the curtain on Foreign Tongues, the new album they started teasing last month. The 14-track project arrives July 10 via Capitol and, per Stereogum, features contributions from Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, and Steve Winwood. Late Stones’ drummer Charlie Watts also appears on a few tracks leftover from the Hackney Diamonds sessions. You can check out the Foreign Tongues cover from artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn, along with the single “In the Stars." In April, the Stones sparked rumors about their return when posters appeared in Camden Town, London, promoting their fabled “Cockroaches” pseudonym. Later, an article in the London Times revealed that a single called “Rough and Twisted” would be released on April 11 as a limited-edition, white-label vinyl exclusive. A secretive Cockroaches website concealed the GPS coordinates for a number of independent record stores that presumably carried the record. The article also noted that Andrew Watt, the producer behind 2023’s Hackney Diamonds (and the new McCartney album), would helm the LP. “It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues,” Mick Jagger said in a statement. “We went as fast as we could.” Added Keith Richards, “The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it's all about the enjoyment of it.”

By Abby Jones 5:10 PM EDT on March 16, 2026 Taylor Swift Vinyl sales in the US cracked $1 billion in 2025, marking the first time vinyl has crossed that threshold this century. According to a new year-end revenue report from RIAA , an estimated 46.8 million units of new vinyl amounting to $1.04 billion were sold last year, with a 5% increase in physical sales overall from 2024. (For comparison, CDs moved $312.4 million in 2025.) This is the 19th consecutive year we've seen vinyl sales grow in the US, and unsurprisingly, Taylor Swift had a big hand in that; her October 2025 album The Life Of A Showgirl  — which came in at least eight vinyl variants  — sold roughly 1.6 million copies last year. In second place comes Sabrina Carpenter's  Man’s Best Friend , which sold around 292,000 copies on vinyl and Kendrick Lamar's GNX  lands in third with 272,000 copies sold. That data comes from music sales tracker Luminate, which shared the list  of the top 10 albums sold on vinyl in 2025. The only two albums on the list not released this century are Fleetwood Mac's Rumors  (190,000 copies) and Michael Jackson's Thriller  (182,000 copies). Incidentally, Thriller  was released in 1982; the last calendar year that vinyl raked in over $1 billion was 1983.

Jon Bon Jovi is involved in the project which will arrive via Universal Pictures. By Joseph Hudak Universal Pictures  is tuning up a definitive biopic on the formative years of Bon Jovi , the quartet that emerged from humble New Jersey origins to sell over 130 million albums earning their way into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Multiple studios chased the project with Universal landing the deal. The studio that made fact-based music biopics Straight Outta Compton  and 8 Mile  has invested in a package that will include participation of leader Jon Bon Jovi  and access to the band’s music library. A director has not been set nor has casting for the group’s key members including singer Jon Bon Jovi , keyboardist David Bryan and drummer Tico Torres, all of whom are still with the band, along with guitarist Richie Sambora, who left the group in 2013, and bassist Alec John Such, who departed in 1994 and died in 2022.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson as his own uncle, the movie is set for release on April 24 after being beset by delays and reshoots— reportedly due to legal issues around the question of how to deal with the pedophilia allegations that first came to light in the 1990s. Reports that this installment will cut off in the 1980s—with a possible sequel to follow—are unconfirmed, but the synopsis, trailer and studio messaging  suggest the film will not look beyond Jackson’s early solo career. Michael  is approved by the late singer’s estate, which has been handling—or, by some accounts, mishandling —the legal rights of Jackson’s accusers in relation to the story. In 2023, Leaving Neverland  director Dan Reed wrote in an op-ed for The Observer that the biopic will “glorify a man who raped children,” noting that it is “completely uncontested” that “Jackson spent innumerable nights alone in bed with young boys.” In 2024, Reed told Variety  that he had read a “startlingly disingenuous” draft of the screenplay that tried to discredit the allegations of Leaving Neverland contributors Wade Robson and James Safechuck. “Jackson is only ever seen caring for children with childhood cancer, or dancing with a little girl in a wheelchair, or tucking up multiple little boys, mostly his nephews, at sleepovers,” Reed said. The film also stars Miles Teller as Jackson’s attorney and adviser John Branca, Colman Domingo and Nia Long as his parents, Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy and Kat Graham as Diana Ross. The first trailer  arrived late last year.

The Romantic  is the singer's first solo effort since 24K Magic By Alex Suskind Bruno Mars ’ music is so ubiquitous it’s easy to forget he hasn’t released a new solo effort in 10 years. That changes next month when The Romantic , the singer’s fourth studio album, drops February 27. The currently untitled lead single premieres Friday, January 9. Mars has kept busy since his 2016 Album of the Year-winning project 24K Magic . In addition to a rolling Las Vegas residency, he spent 2024 dominating radio play with his Lady Gaga collab “Die With a Smile,” which topped the charts in more than 30 countries. Not to be outdone, he later debuted “APT,” his duet with Blackpink’s Rosé, which topped the charts in more than 50 countries. In 2021, he released his first and only collaborative album, An Evening With Silk Sonic , alongside Anderson .Paak.

Mariah Carey’s holiday classic achieved a record-breaking 20th week at the top By Walden Green Mariah Carey ’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is now the longest-running No. 1 song in U.S. chart history. The 1994 modern Christmas classic has spent a cumulative 20 weeks atop the Billboard  Hot 100, breaking the previous record of 19 weeks shared by Shaboozey ’s “ A Bar Song (Tipsy) ” and Lil Nas X  and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “ Old Town Road .” First appearing on Carey’s Merry Christmas album, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was originally ineligible for the Hot 100 because it was not released as a commercial single. Following a rule change, the song made its debut on the singles chart in 2000. “All I Want for Christmas Is You” first hit No. 1  for two weeks in 2019—the longest a song had ever taken to do so—and has consistently topped the chart every year since. For more than two decades, Carey’s Boyz II Men duet “One Sweet Day,” from her 1995 album Daydream , held the longest run atop the Billboard Hot 100. Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” remix, featuring Justin Bieber, tied the record in 2017 and “Old Town Road” finally surpassed it in 2019. Carey shared her latest album, Here for It All , earlier this year. She received the Video Vanguard Award at the 2025 MTV VMAs  and is set to be honored as MusiCares’ 2026 Person of the Year with a tribute concert at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday, January 30—two days before next year’s Grammy Awards . Carey will also perform  at the opening ceremony for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.

“They were both so free in their discussions,” filmmaker Steven Soderbergh said. by Kory Grow The last interview John Lennon and Yoko Ono gave on the day of Lennon’s 1980 death will be the focus of filmmaker Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming, yet-untitled documentary. “I’m not looking to re-invent the form [of documentary],” Soderbergh said of his aim with the film, according to Variety . “I’m just hoping to create a film that gets as many people as possible to hear what John and Yoko had to say on that afternoon before he was killed.” At the time of his death, Lennon and Ono were promoting Double Fantasy , Lennon’s first recording in five years since he took a hiatus to raise his son Sean. It had come out in November, but Lennon was still doing press in December, including a nine-hour chat with Rolling Stone on Dec. 5, 1980. On the afternoon of his death, Dec. 8, RKO Radio’s Laurie Kaye and Dave Sholin spoke with the couple; Kaye recently wrote a book about the experience in her memoir, Confessions of a Rock ‘n’ Roll Name-Dropper . RKO aired the interview, which has circulated among fans  ever since. Speaking at the Doha Film Festival in Qatar where he’s promoting The Christophers , Soderbergh expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “They were both so free in their discussions,” he said, according to Variety . “As someone who has been interviewed many times, I was surprised at how open and excited they were to talk. You would think they had never been interviewed before.” He added that he felt the subjects they discussed in the interview, including his views on politics, feminism, and positive thinking, were relevant now, the same way they were 45 years ago. “It’s even more relevant in terms or relationships, politics, how we treat each other,” he said. “How systems work on the individual and above all on the importance of love in our daily life and our world.” The film will be Soderbergh’s first documentary since his Spalding Gray profile, And Everything Is Going Fine , in 2010.

Kendrick Lamar With the exit of Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “luther,” the top 40 of the Hot 100 breaks a decades-spanning streak. For the first time since 1990, there are no rap songs in the top 40 of Billboard 's Hot 100 chart. Kendrick Lamar  and SZA 's hit "luther," which spent 13 weeks at No. 1, left this week's most recent chart entirely after logging at No. 38 the previous week. In total, the song spent a whopping 46 weeks in total on the Hot 100. The departure of "luther" is the result of new rule changes in how songs are deemed eligible for the Hot 100. Songs that have been on the chart for extended periods of time and fall below a certain chart position are deemed "recurrent" and removed. One of the thresholds for removal is if a song has spent 26 weeks on the chart and falls below No. 25 — making "luther" a prime candidate to be taken down, despite its ongoing popularity. The last Hot 100 chart to be released without any rap in its Top 40 came out on February 2, 1990. Back then, Biz Markie's "Just A Friend"  bubbled under at No. 41. The following week, the track would rank No. 29 on the Hot 100. Billboard writes that the rap-less top 40 is an indication "of a recent dip in rap’s commercial dominance," from 30% of market share in 2020 to 24% in 2025 so far.

Swift’s new album surpasses Adele’s 25  with 3.5 million equivalent unit sales and breaks the record for actual copies sold. By Jazz Monroe Taylor Swift Taylor Swift  has broken the first-week, equivalent-unit sales record long held by Adele  for her 2015 album 25 , making The Life of a Showgirl  the fastest-selling-and-streaming album of the modern era, Billboard  reports . Since its release on Friday, October 3, Showgirl  has already hit 3.5 million equivalent unit sales—some 20,000 more than 25 amassed in its first week—according to initial reports from the data tracking firm Luminate. Swift also breaks the record for actual albums sold, a metric that includes physical and digital sales but not streams. The Life of a Showgirl ’s mammoth numbers include 1.2 million vinyl copies sold, a record of its own, surpassing the 859,000 tally achieved by The Tortured Poets Department . Billboard and Luminate calculate equivalent unit sales by adding streaming figures—in this case amounting to some 300,000 unit sales—to the traditional sales figures. As is customary for Taylor Swift albums, The Life of a Showgirl was available from her webstore in multiple limited-edition and limited-time variants, encouraging superfans to buy multiple copies.
